The house has been enclosed by neighbors on all sides and a road built directly through the back of the property.  The front of the house faces the garage of a house on the street south of it.

The Lobb Farm; or Thorough Plain, originally comprised of 100 acres in Upper Darby Township and later the town of Lansdowne (formed in 1893).  The original farm house was built by Thomas Lobb on the West Side of Lansdowne Avenue. Thomas’ grandson, John, built a house in 1858 on the East Side of Lansdowne Avenue not to far from the family’s main home.  John’s daughter and her husband William Albert Johnson lived in the house after John passed in 1877.  In 1908, 80 acres of the original farm land was sold to the Lansdowne Lead Syndicate and the McWater West Company.

After the land was sold it was split up, sold as smaller lots and new roads were paved, just shortly after the railroad stopped passenger service a mile or so east of the property.  The development of this land and the land east of here stretches all the way to the intersection of Marshall Road, Wycombe and Plumstead Avenues, where the Wycombe PRR passenger station stood, now the location of a lumber yard and small strip of stores and restaurants.
